It starts off innocently. Boy meets girl, girl smiles at boy, boy gets electric shock, and Bam!
Both of you grow as individuals, and so does the relationship.
There might be quarrels here & there, but at least the love is still strong. That's when you're physically together.
But there will come a time when you might not get to spend as much time with you partner as you like. It doesn't mean that the relationship has cooled down, it just means that either one of you has a commitment that is eating into the time that both of you might have shared once.
Big Problem, Small Problem
With lesser time with your better half, it also means more time on your own. In the event that ur friends or family do not need you, you will either be home surfing the net, watching tv or doing ur work. But all these activities will eventually become monotonous, and you will crave for something more interesting, or even become resentful about not getting enough time with ur partner. This could lead to you picking up a new hobby, or even scarier, finding a new 'friend' of opposite sex to hang out with. =S
You love ur partner, so it's only natural that you'd want to spend time together. Being deprived of that chance to do so can lead to you becoming a short-tempered grump. Then all hell breaks loose as fights start over the smallest issue, nasty names get thrown back & forth. Not good! If ur partner has legitimate reason for being apart from you, say work or school commitment, learn to compromise. When you do, ur other partner will be able to see the amount of effort u putting into making things better, and should end up putting more effort on his/her end to likewise, spend more time with you. =) But if you suspect that ur partner is starting to avoid talking to uo for unexplained reasons, then it may be time for you two to trash it out. Don't bottle everything up - the bitterness builds up!
Being apart for a few days is ok. A few weeks at a time? That's still manageable. But being constantly away from each other will eventually take a toll on ur relationship. Because of less contact, feelings and thoughs are not conveyed to each other.
Communication is the key to a successful relationship! There might even come a time where you would not even think of meeting ur partner because you simply have no intention to. That's when you realise that ur love for him/her has died out.
Make a constant effort to spend time with each other - if you cant't do it physically, that just speaking to each other would be enough. =)
